Wedding Garments

"And the king went in to see the guests, and saw a man there who was not dressed for a wedding. And he said unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not clothed with a wedding garment? But he was speechless" (Matthew 22:11-12).

In Eastern countries, wedding garments are not prepared by the guests, but are provided by the host. The wedding garment is Christ, our robe of righteousness.

We need to put on Christ (Rom. 13:14; Gal. 3:27). God has provided the wedding garment for us, but the man in the parable thinks his own clothing is good enough (self-righteousness).

It doesn't really matter if someone is poor, because the king has already made provision. If anyone considers himself unworthy, the king has prepared a wedding garment for him. What should concern us is any unwillingness to take off the old and put on the new. (Watchman Nee).
