Difficult Times

"In the last days perilous times will come" (2 Tim. 3:1).

Many people are restless in an increasingly dangerous world. Without obscuring the picture, we see that the world today is in total disarray, in full drift. We are witnessing an explosion of violence and immorality, powerfully disseminated by the media, even in the privacy of homes.

Many are asking themselves: "Where are we going, what will happen to the world in a few years?”. The customs of our time are rapidly degrading: what was hitherto called "evil" is now accepted and sometimes even legalized.

The Bible, the word of God, announces times of moral deviations, in which men will not only call evil good, but also good evil (Isaiah 5:20). It warns us that judgments will be necessary to eradicate all evil. Yet, even today, God is patient. His goodness "leads you to repentance" (Rom. 2:4). Through this repentance, God wants to bring about a complete inner change in the believer, to open his heart and his thoughts to receive his love and forgiveness in Jesus.

Jesus says to all those who are afraid of the future, to all men: "God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). Those who have believed in him have nothing to fear from this world, for they are under the protection of God, who says to them, "Blessed are you...do not be afraid of them or be troubled" (1 Pet. 3:14).
