The Secret of God's Will

"When the cloud lifted from the tabernacle, the children of Israel moved" (Ex. 40:36).

Just as all of God's speaking to his people in those ancient days came from between the cherubs of glory, so all of his leading forward was through this very glory. The glory of God appeared in the cloud by day, and in the pillar of fire by night, and through it the people moved.

For us, too, every revelation of God's will proceeds from his glory. If we discover the glory of God in connection with any particular matter, we shall soon perceive God's direction in connection with it.

If you ask me: "Is this the will of God or is it that?", I answer with another question: "Does the glory of God rest there?" If we can discern this, we need wait no longer, for divine glory itself expresses God's will. God's direction is something that simply corresponds to his glory. In the place where the glory of God rests, there is no need to find out the way. (Watchman Nee).
