The Gift of the Spirit

"Repent, and let each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2:38).

Suppose I go into a bookstore, select a title that is made up of two volumes, pay for them, and carelessly leave one of them on the counter.

When I discover oblivion, what should I do? I must return immediately to retrieve the forgotten book, but without having to pay another penny for it. I just have to remind the seller that both volumes were paid for, thank him for the second, and without further ado, happily leave the bookstore with my purchase under my arm.

Wouldn't you do the same if you were in the same circumstances? But you are in the same circumstances. If you met the conditions, you are entitled to two gifts, not just one. You already received the forgiveness of your sins. Why don't you come right now, if you haven't already, and thank God for the gift of the Holy Spirit? (Watchman Nee).
