God Has Only One Answer
"For if, being enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved through his life" (Rom. 5:10).
God makes it very clear in his Word that for every human need he has only one answer: his Son Jesus Christ. In all his dealings with us, he works by taking us out of the way and putting Christ in our place.
The Son of God died in our place to give us forgiveness, and he lives in our place for our deliverance. In this way, we can speak of two substitutions: a Substitute on the Cross that ensures our forgiveness, and a Substitute within us that ensures our victory.
It will be of great help to us and will keep us from much confusion if we always keep this fact in mind: that God will answer all our doubts in only one way, namely, by showing us more of his Son.
