Believe and Hope

"...whoever believes, do not rush." (Isaiah 28:16).

Whenever we are faced with a situation in this world, the proposition is that we hastily take a position. The world does not accept to wait, it cannot stand time, it is always in competition, always trying to overcome the barriers of time and space, and it constantly encourages us to run with them: "It seems strange to them that you do not run with them in the same riotousness, and they insult you" (1 Pet. 4:4).

The world opposes the children of God, because it lives from what is apparent, from the sensory, and everything is instantaneous; but the children of God, the just, live by faith. Haste is the enemy of faith. Faith is a sure and firm anchor; it is not a feeling, but the action of waiting on a firm foundation, waiting on the word of Him who cannot lie: "Which we have as a sure and firm anchor of the soul, and which penetrates even within the veil, where Jesus entered through us as a forerunner, made high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek" (Heb. 6:18-19).

Haste, for the world, may be a virtue, but for God it is disbelief. The attitude of the one who believes is not anxiety, but rest: "And the effect of justice will be peace; and the work of justice, rest and safety forever" (Is. 32:17). The soul of the Christian, which is not yet fully sanctified, needs the word of God. We, his children, need to hear his teaching that says: “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and be encouraged in your heart. Yes, wait for the Lord… Be silent before the Lord, and wait on him… Be still, and know that I am God” (Ps. 27:14, 37:7, 46:10).

Psalm 131 teaches us how we should behave before God, that is, like a child weaned from his mother. This is true humility, it is being greater in the kingdom of heaven: "So whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greater in the kingdom of heaven" (Matt. 18:4). He who he believes will not rush. This is not a possibility, but an affirmation of God. Let's not fool ourselves; be our talk yes, yes; and nope If we rush it is because we are not believing.

Disbelief or faith can also become something visible. She becomes visible because of the rush or because of the rest. If there is rest, then there is faith; if there is anxiety and haste, it is disbelief. If we are agitated, anxious, in a hurry, we should not complain, but turn to Jesus, the author and finisher of this precious faith (Heb. 12:2).

It is necessary to turn and know the One who is meek and humble of heart, and in him we will find faith and rest for our souls: "Come to me, all you who are labored and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your souls” (Matt. 11:28-29).
