The Power of Prayer

"The effective prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 5:16).

Nothing has done so much good to mankind as prayer. The consequences of the use of such a powerful weapon left by the Lord to his church will never be justly valued or recognized here on earth.

The Bible is full of cases in which the power of prayer, the genuine clamor, transformed individual lives, affected the destiny of peoples and nations, moved kingdoms and empires, came to bend the forces of nature, turned the impossible into the possible, wrenched life from the clutches of death and managed to change the path of the stars in the firmament.

Through prayer, barren women conceived, small armies put to flight multitudes of armed warriors from powerful nations, families were saved, the sick were healed, Christians weak in faith were filled with the Holy Spirit, hungry multitudes were fed, sinners were forgiven, simple people received wisdom, prisoners were set free, the Gospel was spread... Absolutely nothing has resisted the power of prayer!

Beyond the laws that emerge from congresses and parliaments, beyond the resolutions of the most recognized international organizations, beyond the decisions taken in the most renowned assemblies on earth... far, far beyond all that, is the contribution that a man on his knees offers humanity.

Even though others receive the laurel wreaths, recognitions and awards; even though for this world it is the contributions of others that are considered important for the welfare of mankind, God recognizes, values and rewards the prayers of the righteous.

The true heroes of humanity are the men of prayer, those who on their knees intercede for others. And you may well become one of them! May the Lord help you to achieve this goal.
