Are You Saved?
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Friend, behold the most important question of your life. The joy and sadness that you will experience depends on this question. The question is: Are you saved? Not if you are a member of a church or how kind you are, but if you are saved? Only God saves, and he describes, in his word, the only plan of salvation. The plan is simple, and you can be saved today.
First, you must recognize that you are a sinner. “None is righteous, no, not one” (Rom. 3:10). “For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:22-23). Since you are a sinner, you are condemned to death. “For the wages of sin is death” (Rom. 6:23). This means that separation from God in hell is eternal; horrible, but the reality.
Yet, God loved you that he gave his only son as your substitute. Jesus died in you place and took your sin. He himself bore out sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness…(1st Pet. 2:24). Jesus had to die and shed his blood. Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins (Heb.9:22). Your sin was placed on Jesus, who died in your place. This is true. God does not die.
The jailer of Philippians asked Paul and Silas: “What must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16:30). They answered: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31). It is simple: all you have to do is believe that he took your sin, died in your place, and was buried and resurrected for redemption.
You are a sinner and surely you are repenting of being one. Therefore, do not wait any longer. God is eager to save you. You only have to say: “My God, I am a sinner. Forgive me, I have repented, have mercy on me and save me for the love of Jesus”. Yes, believe his word. “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Rom. 10:13). Believe and you will be saved. Going to church and/or good works will not save you. Only Christ saves.
You might say: “Is this all I have to do to be saved?”. Yes, this is it. This is what is written. This is God’s plan. Believe and put it to practice today. Now is the time. “In a favorable time I listened to you and in a day of salvation I have helped you” (2 Cor. 6:2).
If these words are not clear to you, read them several times until you begin to understand them. Your soul is worth more than all the treasures of the world. “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” (Mark 8:36).
Make sure that you are saved because it is what you need above all things. If you loose your soul, you loose everything. May God help you today! Do not trust your emotions, since they constantly change. Stay firm in the promises of God that never change. “So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven” (Mat. 10:32).
